Script Mail Questions

If you are experiencing problems with script mailings, you will need to contact your server administrator to verify that you are using the correct mail path in your configurations (sendmail for UNIX servers; Blat! mail for NT servers). If you use an incorrect path, your script may generate 500: Internal Server Error messages. You should also verify that your host allows CGI scripts to send mail through their server. Some hosts do not allow this and have "spam blocks" in place to prevent it.

If you are using the correct mail path in your script, your script will send mail to the server. What the server does with it after that is entirely up to the server setup. If your server is not setup correctly, the mail may not leave the server and may never reach its destination. If your script functions with no error messages, but you never receive any mail from it even though you know that the mail path is correct, you should contact your server administrator to find out what the server is doing with the mail the script is sending. It is possible that your server is currently backlogged with mail, is experiencing mail problems or is not setup correctly to send mail from CGIs.
